We decided to buy property in Turkey suddenly. We had already booked a trip to Greece, and suddenly my husband came across a video on YouTube where he learned that apartment prices in Turkey are quite affordable. He found a few agencies, sent our preferences, and we started waiting. Contrary to our expectations, we did not receive a flood of offers. Some people informed us that with our budget, we could only consider properties under construction. Some agents simply ignored us.
If it weren't for Sergey, the manager from Ataberk Real Estate, we might not have ended up buying anything. But he took our request very seriously, not only showing us options but also the neighborhoods where the apartments were located. All of the options were ready-made apartments, which suited us very well. We looked at some more expensive offers, but we didn't want to exceed our budget. Moreover, all communication happened online.
We liked one option, but we understood that it might be taken, so we decided to reserve it. We made a deposit to ensure the apartment wouldn't be advertised until we arrived. In the end, my husband decided that there was no need to fly anywhere, and everything would be handled perfectly without us. I was nervous, but my husband thoroughly researched the matter online and learned that the process is controlled by the government, so the transaction is absolutely safe.
We were finally reassured. We received the contract in both Russian and Turkish, and everything was clearly outlined. Next, we arranged a power of attorney specifically for our apartment, which included all the conditions, and we could add our own clauses if needed.
The power of attorney was arranged through the Turkish embassy, where we were provided with a translator. The entire process took about 40 minutes, as we had made an appointment in advance. The documents could have been sent by mail, but we arranged to hand them over at the airport through a couple flying to Turkey. Our manager, Sergey, collected the power of attorney on-site to start the entire process of registration.
It turned out that Ataberk also offers excellent post-sale service. The apartment was fully equipped down to the smallest details, including glasses, not just major purchases. Everything was also handled online; we coordinated every little thing with Sergey, every plate. Some items were ordered directly from Turkish websites via links.
When we arrived in Alanya for the first time, even at night, we found that we had drinking water and toilet paper. Such attention is very pleasant, as usually all communication with real estate agents ends after the deal is completed. We were also helped to open a bank account, which took literally 15 minutes.
We really like Alanya. The sea is great, it’s safe with small children, and there are amazing markets where you can pick everything you want. The quality of the products is incredible, and the prices are just laughable. The service is impressive. They even deliver watermelons to your home.
